Lost in Translation in China

Shanghai and the Tesco Empire

A rotten egg, apparently.

Shanghai Market

For one of my classes I was required to do an FDP (a practicum) in Shanghai where we would essentially see what it was like to be a local. We were taken to a market where I saw decapitated chickens, ink fish, aubergines that looked like pumpkins, ducks in cages next to dogs (that were pets, though people in my group seemed to think otherwise), peanut brittle with poppy seed, durian, fish jumping out of water, eels, fish blood, leeks the size of small children, eggs from all sorts of birds, all four series of The Tudors, Snuggies, lingerie, spandex and much more.
